GREENE COUNTY, Mo. (KY3) - The Missouri State Highway Patrol is looking for a hit-and-run driver who hit a young boy Thursday afternoon.

Video from a nearby Ring camera caught a white four-door Chevrolet truck driving off after it hit the six-year-old. His mother says the boy now has a head injury and some scratches after the hit.

It happened at a neighborhood intersection of West Greenway Drive and South Barrington Avenue in southwest Springfield.

“He was shaking and just looking at everybody like he was in total shock,” said Kennesha Harris, his mother. “He has a knot on his head, a scratch on his arm, and he was holding his arm as if it was hurting.”

Kennesha Harris says they spent all night in the hospital and that the new bridge down the road has brought in more traffic and speeding.

“I want people to slow down, especially coming through neighborhoods, because the kids are always outside playing,” said Harris.

The neighborhood is very supportive and bought the young boy a new bike after the incident.

”My neighbor even went out and bought my son a bike last night, and they really can’t believe it happened right over here in our neighborhood,” said Harris.

If you know anything about the incident or recognize the truck, call police.
