(KAIT/KATV) - Several retail locations at a multi-purpose building on the campus of the University of Central Arkansas now stand empty, prompting the school to make changes.

According to KATV, Donaghey Hall was constructed in 2016, to both serve the community and provide housing for students.

Retail spaces were put on the first floor, while student living spaces were put on the top three floors.

But since opening, four of businesses have moved out, leaving only Marble Slab/Great American Cookie Company.

"I've been in their shoes," said Chad Rockett, owner of Marble Slab/Great American Cookie Company. "I've been a college student. You kind of have to make your money go a long ways."

Rockett was the first tenant to move in and is the only remaining original tenant at Donaghey Hall.

But now the university is looking to make changes to fill the empty spaces in the $15 million building.

In the works are plans for a new welcome center and allowing students to use their dining dollars and meal plans.

Two new restaurants will also move in Einstein Bros. Bagels and Twisted Taco.
