BRANDON, Vt. (AP) - A 19th century building in a Vermont downtown is going to be renovated to house 14 downtown apartments.
Brandon Zoning Administrator Anna Scheck says the town’s Development Review Board has approved a permit for the project to redevelop the Smith Block.
Scheck tells the Rutland Herald the building’s owner has two years to complete the project, which will include seven one-bedroom apartments and seven two-bedroom apartments.
The Smith Block was built in 1889. Over the decades it has housed a number of business and social organizations.
A hardware store and pizza restaurant currently occupy the street-level retail space.
