MAGNOLIA TRIBE CHIROPRACTIC

Small towns appeal to Morgan Lightsey Santos, which is one reason she opened her chiropractic practice in Freeport.

“I love Freeport,” she said. “I just love the waterways. It is an up-and-coming community.”

She opened the office on Dec. 14.

Lightsey Santos also sees the value of establishing a practice designed to help people through their physical pain.

“There are a lot of people that work very hard in this area,” she said. “I really want to serve people that I can build into a community.”

The idea inspired how she practices and even inspired the name.

“It’s a whole tribe mentality,” she said. “We want a whole group of people who want to be their best selves.”

As a Life University graduate, Lightsey Santos provides principle chiropractic treatment while also relying on science and technology to help her patients improve their physical movement.

“The pain is your body’s last way of saying something is up,” she said. “When you function better, you live more freely.”

COASTAL STITCHES

This little shop, hidden on the northwest corner of Commerce Row, offers a happy quilting shop, but there are other perks.

If you enjoy talking about a good cuppa tea, owners Michele and Quinton Vangraan can accommodate the conversation. If you enjoy a little walk through the history of sewing machines, an antiques display is found around the walls.

And of course, since opening in March, Coastal Stitches sells quilting supplies and services.

“We sell fabric, notions, and we have an embroidery service as well,” Michele said.

And she is a long-arm quilting specialist.

“I tried my first long-arm machine in 2010,” she said.

Now she not only provides a beautiful touch to other people’s work, but her shop is also a Handi Quilter retailer.

“Quinton is our technical guy,” Michele added, “and he is certified with Handi Quilter to set up the machines when people buy them.

“Our main aim is to connect people,” she also said. “We have a relationship with them. They become our friends.”
