KATHMANDU: Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana has described her five-day visit to Japan as fruitful and productive.

Upon returning to Kathmandu on Saturday night, Minister Rana shared that she held several important meetings during the trip, including discussions with the Japanese Foreign Minister on Nepal-Japan cooperation and ongoing development projects. Her secretariat stated that these engagements were beneficial for Nepal.

“During the visit, we discussed various aspects of Nepal-Japan relations, Japan’s assistance, and ongoing projects in Nepal,” she said.

“The international conference also provided an opportunity to learn about policies adopted by other countries regarding senior citizens, their living conditions, and institutional arrangements.”

A bilateral meeting between Minister Rana and Japanese Foreign Minister Iwaya Takeshi took place in Tokyo on May 20. The two leaders discussed matters of mutual interest, bilateral ties, and shared concerns.

On June 21, Minister Rana also met with Dr. Tanaka Akihiko, President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). She thanked the Japanese government for its continued support to Nepal through JICA in various sectors, including economic and social development. They reviewed past and ongoing JICA-supported projects in Nepal.

During her stay in Tokyo, Minister Rana also participated in an international conference on senior citizens and delivered a speech representing Nepal. Minister Rana had left for Japan last Monday.
